Steering Clear of Over Aggressive Poker Plays
There is no question that being aggressive on the Poker table will give you the advantage when playing. However it is one thing to be aggressive, and another to be overly so. A lot of players are unaware of the difference between the two, and the sooner that you know, the better it will be for your bank roll.
The big difference between the two is that being aggressive is a legitimate Poker playing style while over aggression is often the product of several losses and increasing frustration. It can also be the result of a player masquerading his lack of skills for aggressive plays, but often it is the former.
This often happens when one is winning consistently. As he does, he will change his Poker strategy and play with more hands and dismiss his opponents' plays. Naturally this will result in a loss, and another. Undaunted, the Poker player will continue to play on and try to recoup what he has lost, becoming now overly aggressive
At this point all semblance of a Poker strategy will be lost as the player will play as many hands as possible, trying to win back as much as he can. As the losses mount, their anger and thoughts will be on the previous games, which will affect the succeeding one. The other players will see that you are frustrated and will read you easily, compounding your woes.
In order to combat over aggression, you need to sense it when it is coming, and you usually can. When you do, it is important that you step back from your Poker session and try to focus. Remember what brought your winning streak. That is of course, by playing your usual game.
Also, your Poker strategy must also take into account the fact that regardless if you play your usual game from now on, you will not be able to win everything that you just lost. Take it one game at a time, and keep an eye on your bank roll as you proceed. This will help you make sense of what is actually going on.
It can be difficult to control your emotions as you play Poker, and it is only natural that you will try to get back a lot of what you have lost.
But being overly aggressive will not help. Instead by avoiding it, and reverting back to your original playing style, the quicker you will be able to regain and make up for what you lost.
